Born from the historical context of the World War I, maxillofacial surgery appeared and evolved progressively from the first transplants of living tissue to human partial face transplantation, primary performed at the CHU Amiens Picardie in 2005. Raised from this strong historical context, the Institut Faire Faces (IFF) was created in 2009 under the impetus of Professors Bernard Devauchelle and Sylvie Testelin, and constitutes one of the first study and research center dedicated to disfigurement.
